The
Bridgeport Charter Township Parks & Recreation Department is
embarking on a project to provide a multi-purpose athletic
complex with a custom designed synthetic turf athletic field
for youths and adults with physical and mental challenges.
This
facility will provide a safe playing surface that
accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices, while
helping to prevent injuries by removing barriers that arise
from the natural grass fields. This project also includes
two separate accessible parking areas, a specially designed
restroom facility, changing rooms and almost a mile of
accessible paths throughout the park including a perimeter
path and walkways to link the features of the complex
together and to the other amenities within the park.
This
complex will enable all athletes of all abilities the same
opportunity to participate in their favorite athletic competition.
